Montepulciano wines are all the rage!
Grape Sorting
The grapes are placed in small crates and taken to the “grape sorting” department in the cellar. The first stage is a manual grape sorting table. A second stage of automated sorting and a third manual sorting to select the best grapes completes the workflow.
This method allows for a unique winemaking process that respects our traditions in a way that guarantees maximum cleanliness of the grapes in the fermentation tanks and the quality of the grapes.
Area of Podere Casanova
The region is surrounded by deep forests to the west and three lakes to the east: Lake Chiusi, Lake Montepulciano, and Lake Trasimeno. The extreme temperature variations provide an ideal environment for the production of polyphenols and anthocyanins in the grapes. The soils, with their different matrices of sand, clay, mixed silt, gravel and sand, and gravel and clay, allow us to produce very valuable and high quality grapes.
The Voice from the winery
The winery’s owner has always had an interest in renovating and revitalizing disused hydroelectric power plants for clean energy production.
The decision to breathe new life into the Podelle Casanova winery was born out of this vision.
Grapes from the Sangiovese, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng and Grechetto vineyards are harvested by hand.
