Grapes of Sicily
The first vinified grapes were Nero d’Avola and Catarratto.
Later, we decided to focus on Pignatello and Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines and other varieties strongly rooted in western Sicily such as Grillo, Givibbo and Inzolia for white wines.
Over the years, we have improved the Italian spumante (sparkling wine) produced from Catarratto Extra Luchido and the sweet passito (dessert wine) from Givibbo to produce a better quality product.
The Ferreri Estate
Our winery’s vineyards are located in seven districts (within a 10 km radius). All vineyards are cultivated on sloping hillsides between 200 and 500 meters above sea level, with a total land area of 50 hectares.
There are 40 different types of vineyards, with clayey, sandy, and calcareous soils, most of which are irrigated. 10 olive groves are also cultivated, and the average age of the vines in the vineyards is between 5 and 25 years. Modern systems have been installed, allowing for mechanized cultivation.
The voice from the winery
The winery was born in 2003 as the brainchild of three partners. Over the years, they tried their hand at vinification of the various grapes grown in the region, and the philosophy adopted by the winery was to value local grapes and to grow and vinify only indigenous varieties.
Over the years, its wines have won several national and international awards for their hard work and dedication to achieving the highest quality products.
